Updates:

Four items for this week:

1. Memorize!: Please have your young thespian begin memorizing lines for the scenes that have been blocked. Never too early to be prepared, and it will build confidence in their performance.

2. Absences: We are still finding that illness notifications are coming in very late. Please email me at whitehillsp@yestheaterarts.org when your student will miss rehearsal, and as soon as you know it's going to happen, ideally in the morning. Our Director can use this heads up to plan the activity for that rehearsal. When you call or email school that your student is home sick, etc. just drop me a line at the same time, if you would.

3. Clothing: Dress for the end of the afternoon. This time of year it can be warm during the school day but chilly during the latter half of rehearsal. Nights are growing longer, so layers are ideal.

4. Volunteering: The full volunteer catalog is available to you on Sign Up Genius tonight. We have open spots for helpers (assisting with props, flower sales and busing) as well as supervision (hint: we need help for this Wednesday!) and set crews for the playhouse. Take a look and see what you can do!

Thanks!

General Reminders:

1. Please expect (and read!) the weekly emails from the White Hill Site Team on Sundays. We will post a rehearsal schedule and important information there. We don't know what we don't know... but if you routinely get them and suddenly don't on a given sunday, email me at whitehillsp@yestheaterarts.org and we'll try to figure it out.

2. You will be able to find these emails on the YES Foundation website as well. www.yestokids.org (Look under Programs We Fund - Theater) Many questions are answered in these emails, so check there before emailing a member of the team.

3. Send extra snacks for your kids for after school. They get hungry fast! And especially during these hot days, please have them bring a water bottle.

4. Make sure to let your student know that they are not allowed to leave campus between the last bell and the beginning of rehearsal. They are to check in with the adult supervisors in front of the choir classroom and remain on campus until the end of rehearsal.

5. Please, please, please be on time to pick up your child from rehearsal. We understand that things happen, however, it's very frustrating for volunteers to have to wait with students for their rides.

6. Attendance: This is critical. All students are expected to be on site and at practice ready to get to work, each session. Other than conflicts noted in the audition form, only emergencies are viable reasons to be missing from practice. Please be responsible so we can have the best possible show!

Volunteers!

Please hop in and start filling out your Volunteer hours, parents and guardians.

Updates:

Two items for this week that I'd like to reiterate to everyone:

1. Binders: Please have your young thespian bring a binder for their script. I can attest to this from our house, but until they are bindered, they are prone to damage!

2. Absences: Please email me at whitehillsp@yestheaterarts.org when your student will miss rehearsal, and as soon as you know it's going to happen. Our Director can use this heads up to plan the activity for that rehearsal. When you call or email school that your student is home sick, etc. just drop me a line at the same time, if you would.

A Note from our Director

Hello Huntsman auditioners!

Due Tuesday (September 6th): Come to workshop with a monologue or two, your signed audition form and behavior contract, and a photo printed out!

Due next Tuesday September 13: Come prepared with your audition monologue memorized and ready to rock!

The main part of your audition will be performing a monologue of your choosing. Please chose a monologue that is

-60 to 90 seconds long (130-200 words)

-Appropriate for your age range (young adult)

-Contemporary (not classical)

-A contemporary monologue is something from the min 20th century through today. No Shakespeare!

-From a play or musical (not a movie or tv show)

For auditions this must be memorized and will be workshopped the first week.

Below are links to some good sources for monologues:

Contemporary Acting Monologues | Backstage

Free Contemporary Monologues for Auditions - Daily Actor

Monologue Archive

Contemporary Monologues | StageAgent

There are MANY MORE SOURCES if your search online.

If you need help, you can email me, jen@marinmusicals.org, ONCE YOU HAVE CHOSEN a monologue or a few.

Volunteers!

Please hop in and start filling out your Volunteer hours, parents and guardians. We especially need supervision for the first few sessions!
