Take the Stage with YES Theater
YES Theater gives RVSD students the opportunity to experience the magic of live theater, on stage and behind the scenes.
Beginning in 3rd grade, students can participate in fully staged school productions led by professional children's theater directors and performed at the local San Anselmo playhouse. Whether your child loves performing, wants to try theater for the first time, or is interested in what happens backstage, there's a place to get involved.
Every student who auditions is cast. Scholarships are available.

How YES Theater Works
Theater for Every Student. YES Theater is designed to give students a welcoming, high-quality theater experience—whether they're seasoned performers or stepping onto the stage for the first time.
Open to Students in Grades 3–8
Students can participate in the production offered through their school beginning in 3rd grade.
Perform at a Local Playhouse
Each production culminates in live performances for family, friends, classmates, and the broader community.
Everyone Gets a Role
No previous theater experience is required. Students participate in an audition workshop that helps directors assign roles, and every student who completes the audition process is cast.
Scholarships Are Available
YES Theater is a tuition-based program subsidized by the YES Foundation to help keep participation accessible. Scholarships are available to families who need additional support.
Theater registration fees are separate from annual family giving to the YES Foundation.
Led by Professional Directors
Students rehearse with experienced children's theater directors and work together to bring a fully staged production to life.
Ready to get involved?
Students can take the stage as part of the Cast or go behind the scenes with Kid Tech.
Two Ways to Participate
Find Your Place in the Production
JOIN THE CAST
Sing. Act. Dance. Create.
Cast members participate in rehearsals, learn their roles, work as an ensemble, and experience everything that goes into bringing a live production to the stage.
No prior theater experience is necessary, and every student who auditions is cast.

JOIN THE KID TECH
Curious about what happens behind the curtain?
Kid Tech gives students the opportunity to learn about the technical side of theater, including lighting, sound, and stage management, while working alongside the production team.
Kid Tech spaces are limited and filled through a lottery. Students must be available for the full technical and performance commitment for their school's production.

Kid Tech
The YES Foundation's Theater Program allows students to join the technical crew through the Kid Tech program, where they learn and operate lighting, sound, and stage management under adult supervision. Enrollment is via a lottery system due to high interest and limited spots. Selected students are notified by email and must fully register, while non-selected students are waitlisted.
Kid Tech activities include after-school classes, a Saturday workshop, a Playhouse tour, technical rehearsals, and weekend performances. Commitment is crucial, with illness being the only excusable absence.
Students interested in both Kid Tech and the cast should enter the Kid Tech lottery and attend Cast Workshops. If selected for Kid Tech, only register for that program; if they choose to join the cast, register accordingly.
